| TOON WINS SECOND PRIZE AND 'HONOURABLE MENTION' IN INTERNATIONAL SONGWRITING COMPETITION, USA
On the 30th of March 2005 the organisation of the International Songwriting Competition, based in Nashville, announced their winners. Toon won the second prize in the Jazz category with his composition 'Reach For The Rose'. The finalists were judged by a professional jury, including saxophonist Branford Marsalis. The Jazz category had more than a 1000 entries from all over the world.
Toon, the only finalist in two categories with two compositions, received an 'honourable mention' for his second compostion 'Vienna's Touch' in the Performance category. In this category the music is judged on both composition and performance. 'Vienna's Touch' is performed by Toon on soprano sax in duet with harmonica virtuoso Toots Thielemans.
The ISC newsletter: 'Called “the songwriting competition to take note of” by the New York Times, ISC received over 11,000 entries from 77 countries in its third year.
